People Need Your Love

Actually, what they need is the love of God. If you have it, the love of God is your most precious possession. If you have experienced it, it is your possession by virtue of the fact that He has given it to you.

1 John 3:1: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Galatians 5:14: For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

If you are walking in the steps and good works that God has given you to walk in, He will certainly lead you to individuals who need His love.

Isaiah 30:21: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

A most important way you can love others is to share the gospel with them. Sometimes you will be able to do that quickly but most often you will have to love them in other little ways first. You might have to befriend them, listen to them, get to know them, love them, find out what they need and pray for that. There are as many different little ways you can love people as there are people you will meet. One of the most powerful ways you can love them is to pray for them, whether they hear your prayer or not. We are commanded to love God, our neighbours, our enemies, strangers, family members, kings, those who persecute us and everyone else.

The love of God blesses on its way in and on its way out. If we try to keep the love of God that has been given to us to ourselves, we will get, at most, only half the blessings that God intends. The more we love others the more we will be blessed and the more others we love the more we will be blessed. We are not the source of the love of God, He is. But it is powerful enough to flow into us and out of us to others. We have the ability to quench it but in doing so we harm ourselves. If we are stingy about loving others, we will be stingy with ourselves.

The chorus of Ira B. Wilson*s song Make Me a Blessing would be a wonderful prayer to pray often.

Verse 1. Out in the highways and byways of life, many are weary and sad.
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife, making the sorrowing glad.

Verse 2. Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love. Tell of His power to forgive.
Others will trust Him if only you prove, true every moment you live.

Verse 2. Give as *twas given to you in your need. Love as the Master loved you.
Be to the helpless a helper indeed. Unto your mission be true.

Chorus: Make me a blessing, make me a blessing. Out of my life, may Jesus shine.
Make me a blessing O Saviour I pray. Make me a blessing to someone today.
